Number of rivers defined as ‘polluted’ in India has risen from 121 to 275 in the last five years, with increased levels of sewage a primary cause.In India, over one lakh people die of water-borne diseases annually. It is reported that groundwater in one-third of India’s 600 districts is not fit for drinking as the concentration of fluoride, iron, salinity and arsenic exceeds the tolerance levels.Rivers in generally cross multiple states and idea here is to show how pollution level of a river varies within and across different states.
